THE TINDERBOX Co-produced by Spring Films. Distributed by Dartmouth Films in the UK. Distributed by Terranoa elsewhere.

The Tinderbox is a new documentary film exploring both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Using an expansive, yet also uniquely personal, approach it’s the first time the facts behind the divide have been brought to the screen in a single film, and delves deep into ancient history, as well as the origins and more recent history of the British Mandate of Palestine, for answers. The thought-provoking film also shows the human face of this conflict by hearing from a wide variety of contemporary voices, ranging from a Settler to a political member of Hamas.

Through these different sources and conversations, the film exposes surprising and uncomfortable truths, not least for its Jewish director. Today, while this conflict still rages, an American Middle East Peace Plan is in the works, and anti-Semitism remains as globally controversial as it ever was, this film will provide context, show how history continues to play out in the daily lives of people on either side of the divide, and will empower viewers to make up their own minds. At its core, it follows BAFTA/multi-award-winning film maker Gillian Mosely’s personal journey. A British/American Jew who grew up in America with a Zionist perspective, she befriended a Palestinian in London who was apolitical, and through him began to question the views she’d been taught. Across the 90 minutes, the film also explores important contemporary themes such as human rights, democracy, colonialism, immigration, population displacement, racism, and fake truths.
